Hello,
I'm new to this forum, and I've already used the search function to see if I could find anything relevant, but unfortunately, I haven't found anything useful so far.

Okay, I want to replace my old speedometer (part number 3B0 919 881?) with a new one (part number 3B0 920 842 Ax) (this is a Passat 3B TDI). I need to adjust the WFS (Vehicle Status Field) for this, and since both speedometers have WFS2, it should be possible. My question is, can I do this myself using VAG-COM? I have the 4-digit PIN code for the original speedometer, but I don't have it for the new one. However, I've been told that it can be read from the EEPROM. Can I calibrate the new speedometer myself with these conditions, or do I have to go to VW?

Sure, here's the translation:

'Best regards, Silver78'

Check this out.

http://www.vcds.shop/index_2.html

Then, look at examples, and you should be able to find something to read for further information.

which login code?

If you're referring to the PIN, you can obtain it from your local Volkswagen workshop. If you're having trouble with the login, it might also be related to the software from VAG-COM.

Yes, I mean the 4-digit PIN code that was used with the WFS2. Well, if it comes to it, I guess I'll have to go to VW after all, which is something I was actually trying to avoid.

You'll probably have to. Take everything with you, including your ID, just in case they ask questions. And don't let them brush you off. They have to give it to you if you can prove it's your property.

Hello, you will probably have to contact your friendly dealer, as they can request the 7-digit code (in reality, it's still a 4-digit code, but it's linked to the date and workshop code).
Unfortunately, your friend doesn't have a way to obtain a 4-digit code for you.
The only solution: diagnostic tools.
Then you don't need to go to the friendly one, but that will be more expensive if you don't do that often.

Yes, and if I have the 4-digit code, can I then customize it myself? If so, how should I proceed?

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with VAG-com, but please check address 17 to see if there's anything listed about adjusting the key or adapting the immobilizer to the engine control unit.
Okay, so first, you would need to adapt the immobilizer to the engine control unit, and then you would need to program the keys.
(Maybe someone could lend me a VAG-COM device so I can test it.)

In the link I posted above, the WFS settings are described in detail. You should be able to find the key adjustments using the search function here!
