Hello,
Can diagnostic tools also be used to measure a torque value, or to derive it from other measured values?
I once saw a sample file somewhere that had a column labeled "Torque"...
Regards,
Carsten.

Hi,
Some motor starting generators (MSTGs) display "estimated" torque values within a measurement block.
Best regards, Rainer.

But only PD motors .
That would be completely new to me when it comes to VPs. Gruß Ulf

It's possible to check that at the ASZ, ULF!!!! The Polo is arriving tomorrow, so you can take a look at it then. But it's calculating the values quite accurately...at least, mine is.

It displays the calculated internal motor torque.
You need to subtract all frictional losses and auxiliary drives from that value. As a very rough guideline, the torque reading at idle can be used.
Then the displayed values are more or less correct.

I once used VAG-Com for that.
Manually query the measured values in the engine control unit... in my case, it's point 20, and the value is called 'Torque' or something similar (the second value from the left).
And since I know the factory specifications for my engine, the torque value that is calculated here is roughly correct, but only if you do what Gremlin already described.
My engine already shows 28 Nm of torque at idle. That value is then subtracted, and you end up with a value that's approximately what you should expect if the engine is in good condition.
A test drive (ideally with a passenger who can observe the readings) will then reveal what's actually happening when you accelerate.
However, these are not really real values. They are theoretical, calculated values, but they can be reasonably accurate and at least provide some indication of whether there is something wrong with the engine.

"Oh really...? Well, it's probably logical that these are calculated values, or do you think they actually install a torque meter on the crankshaft in every car?"
Yes, I understand what Gremlin is saying, and I unfortunately didn't think of that. I'm being silly. I'll look into it further and then check its plausibility.
