@joergs!
Here's a possible translation:

'What does 'perhaps' mean here? THIS helps! The axis for the A4 is the same, and that's why the problem exists.'
If anyone needs pictures, please send me a private message with your email address.

Greetings.

@mikef

After reading your article, it's clear to me that it will be helpful. The 'maybe' was more of a rhetorical question.

Okay, so it's about the large metal sheet, the splash guard on the swivel joint, and the rubber on the brake disc. I assume that these parts are identical to those used for the A4 (up to the 312 model), so I think they should fit. It's definitely worth trying if it could save your life icon_wink.gif.
The A6 probably looks different now, but if VW knows that this helps, they should adapt the parts to all four-wheel steering axles. That would certainly make sense. But I can imagine VW saying, 'Millions of Passats are on the road, the A6... we won't do anything for just a few.'

Greetings.

The same thing happened to a 1998 Audi A4 that belongs to our family.

Driving in the rain is hell. It's hard to get used to the stupid and dangerous braking behavior. Luckily, my B4 doesn't icon_cool.gif.

@MikeF
Can you provide a review once you've installed the Passat solution?
Regarding fit and performance in wet conditions.

Thank you in advance icon_smile.gif.

Hello, it's well-known with VW/Audi that the braking performance when wet is not good.
That's why we'll soon have the 'brake disc wiper.'
Every few seconds, the brake is applied briefly to release any moisture from the brake disc.
The control system is linked to the windshield wiper or rain sensor.
One should be excited to see what happens.

Hello!
While the brake pad squeegee idea is nice, it doesn't address the root of the problem! It's an addition, yes, but just the squeegee? Well. I know this because if I had 'squeed' my brakes like that back then, meaning only applying the pads intermittently, it wouldn't have helped my Passat at all, because the contact would have been too heavily affected by water!

Does anyone know if something like that is also available for the Golf 4? icon_evil.gif There's also the wet brake problem there.

Hello,

I had a similar problem with my Passat Variant (model 2003).
Although the small plastic spoilers under the front bumper were already installed from the factory.
I approached them in a friendly manner and, while being friendly, I strongly emphasized the risks associated with braking.
Initially, the plan was to use salt/sand on the tracks for winter conditions, but that's not happening.
They have now installed new brake discs and pads free of charge/under warranty (warranty valid until 06/2004), even though I have already driven 44,000 km.
I've only been able to test it 2-3 times so far, but it seems to have improved.
Otherwise, I'll be back at the police station!

I work at the company that manufactures VW brake components. This was originally a standard feature.
Problem solved by replacing the brake pads with a new grade of material.
'They no longer experience this phenomenon. I'm not sure what all is available in the accessories and spare parts market...'

Hi ekolaus,

That means I buy new, original brake pads from Audi (and hope they aren't some old stock), and the problem is solved?
