Hello,
I've already searched the forum, but unfortunately, I haven't found a solution to my problem yet.

My Audi A4 V6 TDI quattro Avant (8E) doesn't have a typical power issue, as it has plenty of power from 2000 RPM, and it received a new Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor from Hitachi at 75,000 km.
The workshop says that at third gear, with the engine running at 3000 RPM and full throttle, the reading should be above 800mg. With a reading of 970mg, it was acceptable, and the boost pressure was approximately 2.2 bar.

The problem is the engine speed range below 2000 RPM, which manifests in city driving through frequent gear changes and high engine speeds when starting from traffic lights.
While idling, the engine unexpectedly revs up, and it doesn't produce any smoke when running at full throttle.

Could a stiff or stuck turbocharger wastegate actuator be causing my problem?
I've read about some inferior quality compensator and exhaust manifold pipes that were changed starting with part number AKE 108400 because they were sending rust particles into the turbocharger.

I would also like to know if it is possible to deactivate the AGR (automatic guided rail system) without generating any error messages, in order to keep the loader clean.
Does a charging service make sense?

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem.
I would appreciate it if you could provide plausible theories.

As far as I can tell, the V6 TDI engines don't really start building up their boost pressure until around 2000 RPM.
What does your boost gauge say?

The charger is very large and requires a certain gas flow rate in order to generate pressure.
Perhaps a well-matched chip could allow for some forward movement even at 1500 RPM.

There's also plenty of information available about VTG (presumably a product or system). The search function should also provide instructions on how to check for smooth operation. If it's not the support structure, the relevant pressure sensor might be faulty.

mcgyver2k: I already knew that link, as I had set the adaptation channel to the maximum value in my previous car, a G3 with the AFN engine. I didn't know that it would also work on an Audi. I'll try it, because I'm familiar with that light icon_wink.gif, thanks.

Steffarn: I had that suspicion too. Since I just bought the car, I didn't know any better, but thank you.
What's the point of the variable geometry then? It works fine on AFN engines, even though the turbocharger is definitely smaller.
I've considered the chip option, but I was advised against it because the AKE isn't easily tunable and can become a fuel guzzler. I don't understand why, since it works perfectly fine with the AFB.

Try to check the loader this weekend and measure the pressure in the lower section.
Is there a typical reference value around 1500 U?

Hello!

I also have an AKE engine, but in an A6 with a Tiptronic transmission.

I blocked the AGR valve using a thin piece of metal directly at the connection to the intake manifold. (This is not a recommended action). It noticeably improves performance in the lower load/RPM range. I haven't registered any error codes, but I also don't have an OBD system (manufactured in 2000).

Since I'm also experiencing performance issues, I've created some log files related to the turbocharger pressure regulation. If you provide me with your email address, I can send you one of them.

...and regarding your actual problem:

Generally speaking, these engines actually have a torque problem below 2000 RPM. This is particularly noticeable with a manual transmission. My colleague has an A4 with a 150HP TDI engine and a 6-speed transmission, and he complains about it too.

With my Tiptronic transmission, this doesn't happen because it always shifts out of that RPM range.

Can you check the software version? There's a newer data update available to address the 'tendency to stall' issue. It might help.

Hello.
I checked the smoothness of my VTG strut and found that, with the hose disconnected, I could only move it about 60% of its range with my fingers.
After starting the engine, it goes to the upper maximum.
I will still verify the method using the syringe.

I also recorded the readings from measurement blocks 10 and 11 at idle.

10: 451mg/U 979mbar 1000mbar 0.0%
11: 766U 796mbar 1000mbar 85.2%

My control unit:

VAG Part Number: 8E0 907 401 C
Component: G 000 SG 0004
Soft Coding: 02015

I also tried to reduce the AGR rate, but I kept getting disconnected due to frequent communication errors after logging in, even though my interface usually works fine. (It worked with the G3 AFN). Is the login code 12233 perhaps not valid for AKE?
