Hello community,

My A6 is opening by itself.
In the mornings, when I approach the car, it's always unlocked and all the windows are open. I could just put up a sign that says, 'Attention thieves, please don't scratch it; the trunk opens automatically after a short time.'

Has anyone else experienced this, and what can I do about it?

Regards,
HP.

Either someone is trying to play a prank on you using your key or a spare key, or you have a short circuit somewhere, possibly at a cable entry point or in the door lock mechanism.

You can also open doors and windows by holding the key in place for a long time...
(A comfort locking system is often called that.)

Have fun searching (or having someone else search for you).

Locate the cable labeled 'Open' in the control unit (likely the central control unit) and disconnect it.

This will help you determine if the starter generator (SG) is defective or if the problem is simply a switch or a cable.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me where I can disable the central locking system? Or which cable I can disconnect?

The problem likely lies with the door lock on the driver's side door. I've disconnected the connector from the lock. Now the car is locked. I'll take it apart when I have time. Has anyone else experienced this? I heard that this problem was even mentioned on television before. Did anyone see that segment?

Regards,
HP.

I've experienced it before with an A3, that's why I also wrote to you about where you could look... icon_wink.gif

My friend's lock was still under warranty, so I don't know which specific part inside the lock was causing the problem.

I also had a surprising experience yesterday!
I was briefly in the city shopping with a friend, and I locked up.
"Windows closed! 100% certain, because my passenger also happened to notice."

"Definitely, I came back after about 1.5 hours and noticed that the window on the passenger side was open (fully open)."

The phone was still in the center console, and my system was still there icon_eek.gif, so nothing was stolen. This has only happened once before. If it happens again, I'll have to trace the wiring harness in the doors!

I disassembled the driver's side lock.
The circuit board was charred and had a wire repair.
The problem was the small motor for the additional safety feature. The internal contacts were faulty. The resistance across coil 3 was 350 ohms.
It likely drew a constant current, but the motor didn't move.

Everything is back to normal now, and we've saved a lot of money.

Best regards, HP (Johannes)

I was on a business trip at the time and I didn't know my password.
