Central Locking: Rear Doors Won't Open?

Hello colleagues,

I have a Golf 5 here. The customer is complaining that the rear doors are not opening with the central locking system. They can be opened manually from the inside, but not from the outside. If the emergency locking mechanism (using the red lever on the lock) is not activated, the doors remain open.

There's an error in the log that I myself caused by disconnecting the connector (door lock, high level). Please disregard this error.

What are your experiences with this error? A colleague said: Replace the body control module and everything will be fine. Can I trust him?

I've encountered this problem on other VAG vehicles before.
A change in the door lock has always led to success in this case.

Here's my feedback:

I think I didn't express myself clearly and didn't describe my issue optimally. I assumed that the central locking system would probably work again after replacing the door locks. However, I was too focused on that stupid single-wire fault in the vehicle's onboard network.

So, I swapped the two rear door locks, and the central locking system is working properly again. The error in the Body Control Module (BCM) is still present, but it's not affecting any other functions.

Single-wire operation doesn't mean that communication has completely stopped.
It's just a bit "slower," and with a bit of bad luck, it might eventually stop working altogether.

I completely agree with you. However, the error that caused the single-wire operation was unfortunately not related to the door control system.

Finding the error probably won't be easy... However, the car has been picked up and the central locking system is working.
