hello,
My Golf 4 TDI (90 hp, manufactured in 2000) only runs with 3/4 throttle.
'When I drive with the accelerator pedal, it reaches 180 km/h. However, when I activate the cruise control, it automatically reduces the speed to 160 km/h. It should maintain the full throttle setting.'
Does anyone know this problem?
'Thank you in advance!'

Funny.
My G3 TDI (1Z, 90 hp) also reaches 180 km/h with the GRA (presumably referring to a speed limiter or governor).
I even saw while logging that the GRA (presumably referring to the throttle or accelerator) could actually deliver more power (higher throttle demand) than I could ever achieve with my foot.
The fact that it doesn't simply turn off, but instead regulates to 160, suggests a kind of safety mechanism.
Whether that is true or not is likely to be difficult to determine.

I had them installed by a Volkswagen dealership.
No, when I had it retrofitted, it worked perfectly, and the cruise control also worked at 180 km/h.
It has only been running at 160 km/h for about 3 months.
Best regards.

Hi,
My ASV (2001) easily reaches a speed of 190 km/h with cruise control enabled.
"@Dieselmartin: That aligns with my observations. I've always felt that the engine accelerates more strongly around 2000 RPM when you apply gas by holding the RES button, compared to using the accelerator pedal. In my opinion, it seems to revert back to normal at higher RPMs... otherwise, it would be the perfect "tuning" for the DZR test."
@el-diesel: What happens if you're going 160 km/h and then press the accelerator (+, usually meaning full throttle)?

Then it's like when I press the pedal.
If I let go, it falls back down.
As I said, after the installation, it worked perfectly.

Hi,
Hmm... could it be that some implausible signal is being received, causing the GRA (presumably a system or device) to temporarily shut down, and only reactivating below 160 (presumably a threshold value)?
While my understanding of this control system makes it seem unlikely, you could check the measurement blocks in the engine control module (ECM) if you have VAGCOM. If there's anything unusual about the speed signal, that might be the reason.

Is it possible to reset or adjust the GRA (Ground Reference Altitude)?
what is IMO
The error memory doesn't show anything.
Best regards,

Hi,
IMO = in my opinion.
AFAIK = as far as I know.
To my knowledge, there is no reset function for the GRA (presumably a specific system or module). The error memory doesn't necessarily have to be the same. Simply observe (or have someone observe) the measured value blocks while driving.

but it can be enabled and disabled - so, a reset!
I'll give it a try.

@ Jan
No, it didn't actually accelerate any faster. The values in the log were just higher.
My baby TDI actually starts to engage the torque limiter at just 35.2 mg/H (((.
With Mitm, I can achieve a maximum of 42 mg (a dream scenario). The GRA (gravitational acceleration) was significantly higher, exceeding 46.

Hi,
@ Martin : I should probably check the logs to see how it compares to ASV - I almost suspect that it's a slightly higher value.
@el-diesel: ??? RES = Resume = "Resumption" or "Summary".
If you want to reset the control unit, forget about it. That's not possible with our MSG systems.

It was the LMM.
I only had 450 left. The new one has 750. Is that okay?
It's new now, and the temperature sensor is working again.

LOL. Someone didn't notice that, so the engine doesn't pull as much anymore. B.Eng (FH) u. KFZ Meister
