hello,
I've already started a thread on another platform, but the results there are quite 'thin.' Maybe someone here can help me solve my problem? I'm attaching the thread with all the posts so you know what it's about.

Title: Difference between V6 TDI 150hp and 180hp engines.
Hello!
What are the differences between the 150 PS (now 155 PS) and the 180 PS version, besides the engine control unit?
Supposedly, the fuel injection pump is more powerful and delivers higher pressure, but the turbocharger is supposed to be the same.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
Best regards,
RomanA6

Hello Roman,
The difference between the 150 hp TDI engine (engine code: AFB, AKN) and the 180 hp version (engine code: AKE) is:
- other turbo options
- Bosch VP44 E instead of VP44 injection pump (this is NOT a pump-injector engine!).
- other (reinforced) connecting rods.
- reinforced connecting rod bearings
- other pistons
- modified engine control unit (ECU)
Best regards,
Rob.

Title:
hello,
Okay, I'm interested in learning more about the differences between the 150 hp and 180 hp TDI engines. I had an engine failure in my A4 2.5 TDI (the 150 hp version) about two weeks ago. I'm now considering whether an 180 hp engine could be fitted in its place? The electronics wouldn't be an issue, as I could just take those from a used 180 hp engine. However, are the engine mounting points and, for example, the exhaust system layout the same? Or are there other differences that would make the conversion more complicated?
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards, Thorsten.

The 180 hp version has 370 Nm of torque, while the 150 hp version has 310 Nm. I think it's the same gearbox.

@ tdi_power: Well, I could have also found the Nm value in the overview of the engine options... But it's not about the difference in power, it's about the differences in the engine's construction!
'Does anyone really have any information for me?! I really need to know whether I should get another AFB engine or actually go for an AKE engine!'
Has anyone ever done a conversion like this before, or does anyone here know people who have?
Best regards, Thorsten.
