Deactivate AGR via Control Unit

I found an instruction manual under http://www.tdiclub.com/TDIFAQ/TDiFAQ-7.html (which, of course, isn't as good as here ) on how to adjust the EGR valve via the control unit. Supposedly, if you don't overdo it, the exhaust values should remain within the normal range.
What do you think about this possibility? Wouldn't that then be legal? It seems to work, and you probably wouldn't notice much, maybe just a slightly more direct response.
I think this is a good, good compromise.

Adjusting the AGR (Abgasrückführung) rate using VAG-COM or a similar tool would, in my opinion (based on a gut feeling), be considered a borderline case.
As long as the emission limits specified in the type approval are met, things should be fine - but who can really put a "sophisticated" emissions analyzer next to it for comparison?

And finally: the "ultimate" goal – preventing (new) oil sludge deposits in the intake manifold – can only be achieved by completely decommissioning the system.
And then, as far as I know, the nitrogen oxide emissions will definitely exceed all local regulatory limits.

Therefore, the "trick" using VAG-COM is essentially just a reduction, but not a real solution to the problem.
