I've also considered that, but the toothed rod and the support close flushly. I don't think that's the case.
I have no idea what happened there }.
To get back to my question: How is the steering system constructed?
Does the toothed rack have teeth on the top side and is it driven by a gear? However, the steering linkage enters the steering gear centrally, so that can't be the case.
How does the re-enactment work?
