Hello everyone,
I've read a lot in this forum about connecting a boost gauge, but most of the discussions have focused on gasoline engines.
Can anyone tell me where I can connect the gauge in the engine compartment of my 150HP TDI ? There are so many hoses everywhere!
Does anyone have a photo of the location that they could send me, or a foolproof description?
Please help me.

Hi Torgue Master, are you happy with your car? Is it fun to drive, with all that torque!
Unfortunately, I can't help you with the boost pressure gauge, but I might want to install one myself.
Have a lot of fun driving!
Best regards,
Sebastiaan.

Hi,
Regarding the ad: Please use the search function to find related posts, as there were quite a few. The statement "only gasoline engines were discussed" is definitely incorrect; this is a TDI forum, and everything that has been discussed so far about boost gauges has exclusively been related to TDIs.
You need to connect it behind the charger, in front of the engine. Someone who owns the same car should be able to tell you the exact location in the engine compartment. A helpful tip for installation, including a post by Ulf, discusses the installation in an Ibiza TDI with 90 horsepower, as the connection point mentioned there should also be available on your car. You can likely find it using a search engine, although I don't have the link readily available.
Best regards,

The provided link is not working!
I also own an ATD and I'm looking for a pressure connection.

Hi.
Probably the link doesn't work anymore because the old forums are only available as a zip file.
Here are some excerpts from the original post:
Quote: | . . .Because the car has an electronic boost pressure sensor, there is unfortunately no boost pressure hose that can be tapped into for the engine computer.
Instead of using the original fitting, I used a pipe section with an EGR valve and a shut-off valve. On one side, there's a diaphragm housing for the shut-off valve. Conveniently, I found similar threaded holes on the other side. I drilled one of these all the way through and screwed in a custom-made pressure nipple from the outside – and the connection was complete.
Thanks to a boost pressure gauge with a vacuum range, you can now monitor the function of the bypass valve simultaneously, and if there are any problems, check whether the valve has closed unintentionally while the engine is running.

Note: To safely prevent drilling debris from entering the intake manifold , it is recommended to remove the EGR component and thoroughly clean after drilling. Gruß Ulf

I own an ATD 100 hp TDI PD!
Isn't it safer to disconnect the hose that leads to the boost pressure limiting solenoid valve?
That should work well with a T-piece, right?
Here's the translation:
'I have another question: there are two connections on my boost pressure gauge!'
one for the pressure pipe and one black cable!
Does the display require a power supply, or what could the cable be for?
Sorry for the silly question, but I'm installing the ad for the first time!

Hi.
The tapping is certainly easy to do... but that way you won't get boost pressure, but rather the underpressure for the turbocharger control to the display .

Generally, the positive (+) cable is for the lighting, and the ground is connected to the instrument housing. Gruß Ulf

Okay, so I need to remove the large intake manifold flange in front of my EGR valve, right? I think it's best to remove it beforehand and clean it thoroughly after drilling.

Hi.
Okay, so I've equipped my 90 horsepower engine with an LDA (Low-Dust Accelerator).
I didn't connect to that hose; instead, I tapped into the metal part with the large AGR membrane canister.
I highly doubt that it looks significantly different in the case of PD.

Das It works well.
Regards,
Eike.
