I've been searching for some benchmark data for this engine for quite some time, as I'd really like to understand the sudden increase in power delivery around 2500 RPM. Audi simply stated, 'It has to be this way.'

It would be great if someone could at least log their values using VAG-COM. I could do it now, but unfortunately, I'm still missing the full version of the software

The Excel overhang calculator on Rainer's website is not limited to the 1.9 models. Simply enter all the data into the sheet (don't forget the yellow torque column!), and you'll get an idea of what the test results are likely to be.
If the measured time significantly deviates from the calculation (by more than 10%), there is likely a problem with the data being used or with the motor itself.
