Well, that sounds pretty good.
It's also somewhat plausible, based on my observation, that even the starter motor can generate at least 0.55 bar of pressure when using 0W30 oil in a warm engine (when the switch is activated). Gruß Ulf

Okay, this also confirms my earlier statement that the AI measures/detects values greater than 2 bar, which no one believed me about before.
The crankshaft only needs to turn about half a revolution before the oil pressure rises, 'long' before the engine even starts.

"Mine only has a switch with a pressure range of 0.55 to 0.8 bar – how can the AI possibly detect a threshold of 2 bar with that?" Gruß Ulf

I have no idea, I just wanted to point out that this value represents the absolute lower limit and only becomes relevant when the engine is completely worn out.
The AI knows the oil pressure, which is 2 bar and corresponds to reality. I just need to figure out how it's being measured.

@Ulf: Can you read the current oil temperature from the car's computer system? What range is it in, and how does it compare to the coolant temperature?

Hi,
Here's some information about the oil pumps used in various MKB engines (if anyone is interested).
I found this information in the records (with no guarantee of accuracy).
In the models AQM, AGR, ALH, AHF, ASV, ATD, AXR, AJM, AUJ.
The pump is part number 06A 115 105B and costs approximately €115.
ARL, ASZ 038 115 105B, approximately €130.
In AWX, AVF 038 115 105D.
Unfortunately, I can't say exactly what the difference is.

Reading the data is okay, but only via VAGCOM.
So far, I've only tried to maintain it (while exploring the MWB).
It probably won't be worth logging in again until spring/summer, when the system returns to its normal operating temperature for a longer period.

I would also like to understand your measurements. I can borrow hydraulic fittings in all sorts of sizes and configurations, but I'd like to know what I need before I unscrew the oil pressure switch.
Then I could also install a pressure sensor (GE), connect it to a 10 bar pressure gauge using a miniature hose, and observe the oil pressure at different temperatures and engine speeds.
Let's see how my AGR engine with almost 170,000 km and the ALH engine with almost 160,000 km compare to each other in a direct comparison.

Is it at least a standard M5 thread, or is it a fine thread? What is the depth of the thread engagement, and what type of sealing is used here?
What type of adapter did you use for the measurement? Is it possibly still available?
