Hi everyone! Wishing you all a blessed Christmas!

My Christmas was spoiled by an incident that happened on December 24th: Some idiot scratched a 30 cm long mark into my Bora with a key or a nail, right down to the primer! I'm so angry I could throw up! Why would someone do something like that?!

Can anyone perhaps give me some advice on how to conceal the scratch so that it's not so noticeable?

Should I use two coats of paint or just one?

Apply two coats of base coat, then apply clear coat and let it dry thoroughly. Sand the areas that need it with 2000-grit wet sandpaper to make them flush. Finish with polishing compound, seal, and you're done.

Apply the same procedure for a single-layer coating, but simply omit the second layer of paint. Alternatively, you can use a matching touch-up pen.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've restored several cars to a respectable condition using this method.

Hmm, it probably needs a two-layer coat of paint. I'll get around to it after Christmas. If I have any questions then, I'll let you know. Can you find 2000-grit wet sanding paper at the hardware store...?
For now, thank you very much, and have a wonderful holiday season.

Hmm, it must be a 2-coat paint system. I'll get around to it after Christmas. If I have any questions then, I'll let you know. Is 2000 grit wet sandpaper available at the hardware store...?
As far as that's concerned, thank you very much, and have a wonderful holiday season.

'No, I wouldn't recommend a hardware store for this. You're more likely to have luck with a specialized paint shop. I suggest checking out www.petzoldts.de. Give them a call and get some advice; they're friendly and knowledgeable. However, if the goal is to make the repair virtually invisible, it won't be done in 2 hours. The paint layers need to dry properly, and the clear coat needs to be applied multiple times to completely fill the scratch before you can start sanding. I recently repaired the pearl effect black paint on a colleague's Fabia. It took quite a few hours without any drying time, but the result was that you couldn't see any trace of the repair.'
