Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the process of installing an auxiliary battery in my Volkswagen Golf 2. After many problems that I have already solved, two problems currently remain without a solution. icon_confused.gif

The drive shafts of the G60 or VR6 engines have a diameter that is too small on the transmission side.
The G4 ones don't fit into the wheel hub.

The second problem is the gearbox bearing!
Even after thoroughly studying the parts catalogs for various model types, I searched and found nothing suitable.

Has anyone done this conversion before and can help me with it?
The search function for existing posts wasn't very helpful here, or it didn't lead to the desired results (I didn't find anything).

Sure, here's the translation:

'Thank you very much in advance.'
Best regards,
Christoph

Hi,

Does the ASZ engine not have the same components as the 1.8T engines?
'A lot of those were installed in Golf 2s and Corrados, among other vehicles.'

Regards,
arne

Hi Arne,

The main problem is the 6-speed transmission.

The gear flange, which houses the drive shafts, has a diameter of 113 mm.

The G60 and VR6 engines, but only with a 100mm bore.

I am looking for a solution to this.

Regards, Golfchriss.

Hi.

Here's a silly question: Can't you build an adapter plate there?
I vaguely remember my dad using something similar on a Porsche once. It was a 'plate' with two sets of holes (offset from each other), and the screws facing the transmission were recessed (using an Allen key).
