Hi,
The brake control unit is reset to its default settings through a guided troubleshooting process and then re-calibrated. Usually, only the steering angle sensor is affected. If the battery is discharged and a start-up attempt is made, it loses all its values and does not initialize automatically. If you simply disconnect terminal 30 (i.e., disconnect the battery), the warning light will also illuminate, but it will turn off on its own after driving in a straight line for approximately 100 meters.
I had a similar problem with a customer last week. I don't know what Audi expects to achieve, because how is the customer supposed to know that the battery is dead if the ignition turns on normally, but the starting process fails, and that causes these kinds of errors. Probably, it's just that the customer will come and spend their money, especially if they are outside the warranty period.
Best regards, Christian.
