Coolant Error: Check Coolant Level Now

Hey guys,

My Golf has recently started displaying an error message:
STOP: Check coolant level. See operating manual.
The warning only appears when the engine is cold, and it goes away after a few hundred meters. There's definitely enough G12 coolant in the system, and I think it's probably a sensor issue. I would appreciate any tips anyone might have.

How about you take a look at the coolant reservoir?

It can only be due to a sensor, specifically one located in the balancing tank.
Check the connector and cable routing, verschandeln the sensor if necessary, or replace the expansion tank.
The coolant level is determined by measuring conductivity, so a dirty sensor will trigger a false alarm.

I cleaned the sensor (the wire clip) in the coolant reservoir using an old toothbrush, and the annoying beeping stopped.
