ESP Tuning for VW AAB Engine

Hello,
I bought a used AAB engine, and the adjustment screws are obviously completely misadjusted. Can anyone tell me how to correctly adjust the idle speed and residual fuel quantity? What is the function of the vacuum diaphragm on the pump? Does Bosch have any publications that can help me understand the pump?

Hi,

1. Idle mixture: This is the 'idle stop' of the carburetor. Turn the screw all the way out until the engine speed is constant. Then, turn it in until the engine speed increases, and then turn it back 1/2 a turn.

2. Idle Speed: Adjust using the 'vertical' screw on the 'engine side' of the ESP, either by feel or using a tachometer (which should read approximately 850 RPM).

Thank you for your reply. In the meantime, I managed to fix it. I also had significant difficulties because the idle speed adjustment for the first engine was incorrect or not connected properly.
