Hello,
The front bumper of my car is slightly torn, likely after someone bumped into it in the parking lot. Now, I want to repair it by plastic welding/gluing and filling, and then repaint it. I've done something similar on my motorcycle before, and it worked quite well.
Can someone tell me what material the front bumper is made of?
"Thank you." Gruß Thomas

I'm quite certain about the material of my rear bumper: it's polypropylene.
I think it will be the same for you / in the front. 1993 Audi 80 B4 1Z

Hello Thomas,
All parts must be marked to indicate the material they are made of. If it's polypropylene, you should find a 'PP' marking somewhere, likely near the date display.
Regards,
Stefan.

I was actually aware that there should be some kind of abbreviation stamped on plastics. However, I want to start the repair immediately once the apron is removed, so I wanted to have the adhesive or welding material ready beforehand. Gruß Thomas

...if the apron is painted, it is not made of PP (polypropylene).

@wolfi:
...I can't imagine that they are being painted at the Audi paint shop.
@Thomas
Cut off a piece of the bumper in an inconspicuous place and throw it into the water.
If it floats, it should be PE or PP, and you can forget about gluing it. If it doesn't float, you at least have a chance of being able to dissolve it, which could allow you to glue it. We can then determine the type of plastic using a 'burn test.'
René.
