First, the good news: My front right wheel bearing is running smoothly again icon_smile.gif.

Okay, here's the translation:

Now for the bad news: Since the swap, the ABS and ASR lights are on, and the control unit for my Passat TDI PD 115 hp indicates an 'ABS error' after driving for a while.

Is it a coincidence, or is it related to the ABS sensor on the front right side being disconnected and reconnected during the wheel bearing replacement? After all, the lights first came on about 20 meters after the replacement... What could have gone wrong with the sensors?

It's strange: Sometimes the lights would go out for 100 kilometers, and the ABS seemed to reactivate, but earlier than usual. When braking at the traffic light, just before coming to a stop, there was the typical ABS knocking sensation in my foot.

Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with my ABS?

Hello,

You've already answered your own question, so what else do you want to hear?
It's either the sensor that's broken, or the connector/cable has a loose connection. First, I would check if the connector is properly seated and clean/lubricate the contacts.

Best regards, Rainer.

I just thought of something else: if the connectors, cables, and sensor appear to be okay, it's possible that the metal ring on the wheel hub was bent during the wheel bearing removal.
Check if the part is wobbling, meaning it moves different distances away from the ABS sensor as the wheel rotates.

Hi!

Sometimes, brake dust or dirt can get into the ABS toothed ring. This can cause the sensor to receive incorrect signals, which can illuminate the ABS warning light and activate the ABS system even at low speeds.
Simple solution: Remove the sensor and blow out the toothed wheel with compressed air.

Best regards,
Uwe

Hello,

It's also possible that the sensor ring is bent.
Tschüss

Thank you for your suggestions. It turned out that there was indeed a lot of dirt on the sensor... I suppose it would be best to put a small protective cover over it when removing it.
