Hello everyone,

I replaced my steering angle sensor and had to recode the ABS control unit afterward. I've already performed the entire procedure. My control unit previously had the coding 04457. After replacing the steering angle sensor, the coding in the control unit was reset to 00000, so I tried to re-enter the original coding (04457). However, that wasn't possible. Despite having the login code, I could only install the coding (04257) from an A6 2.5 TDI quattro with TT5. This coding only differs in the third digit from my previous one. Now I'm not sure if this will have any effect on the behavior of ABS & ESP.

The Passat and the A6 are essentially built with the same components when it comes to the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. The same applies to the braking system.

I would like to restore the original coding, but the control unit no longer allows it.

Are there any other login options available? "Are there any specific coding options available for a Passat model like the one I have?"

Are you absolutely sure that the original coding was 04457? The number 0x?xx refers to the braking system.

0x1xx = Lucas C54
0x2xx = FN3 Teves/ATE
0x3xx = FN 2/ HP2 dual-piston.
0x4xx = FNRG-60 Teves/ATE

So, what kind of brakes do you have?

I'm sure the original encoding was 04457.

I have an old (dated June 2, 2005) diagnostic report from the VAG-COM system.

The ABS control unit displayed the following.

Address 03: ABS Brakes.
Control unit: 4B0 614 517 H
Component: ABS/ESP all-wheel drive, part number 3428.
Encoding: 04457
Workshop code: WSC 05311
No errors found.

And as I mentioned before, I was only able to redeem the code 04257. The STG refused to accept the code 04457.

What does that have to do with the brakes?

Okay, then the question: What login did you use? Every encoding has its own corresponding login! Without the correct login, the encoding will not work.

For encoding 04257, the corresponding login is 09557.

Since I can't find any documentation for the code 04457, I'm not sure what the correct login is. I suspect it's 09357, but as I said, I'm not sure.

Hello Uwe@Ross-Tech,

I also think that it should work with this login, but I can only test it on Friday or Saturday because that's when I'll receive my new diagnostic connector icon_wink.gif.

I used the login code 09557 and then encoded the corresponding meaning as 04257.
The login I posted to you, which was 09357, I didn't know that at the time, but it makes sense now.
I've also found this encoding here, or it can be easily deduced from here. I only came across it today. Sure, I will translate the text from German to English. Please provide the text you would like me to translate.

It may be from an Audi A4, but the current coding (04257) can be easily understood here. The original coding (04457) is the same, or what do you think about that? That also aligns perfectly with your views.

As soon as I've had a chance to try it, I'll post here.

I think the table in the link is brand new.

It is clear that no coding will be accepted from these control units without the correct login credentials. Okay, let's try it...icon_smile.gif

Hello everyone,

I wrote that once I figure out the login and encoding issues with the link, I'll post about it here.

Well, and you won't believe it, but it actually worked. I actually managed to get the original encoding working with this login.

I hope that this has been helpful to some people.

See you later.

Best regards, Jurlai.
