Spritzbeginn ändern: Ursachen & Lösungen

Hi,
Two days ago, I posted a message (see June 22, 2005, 'Why does the TDI start so poorly?') where I described significant starting problems.
Now I've readjusted the fuel injection system and bled the ESP (a lot of air bubbles came out), and sure enough, the car starts perfectly again, even after being idle for a long time!
In the first exam for the SB course, I had an awful time, which I absolutely don't understand.
How can the SB (Steuergerät/control unit) adjust itself if there are no adjustments being made to the timing belt?
Does anyone have an idea? Because if this happens once, it will happen again, because the cause hasn't been addressed or identified!

Weil ich erstens denke, dass das Thema spezieller geworden ist und zweitens merke, dass die Aufmerksamkeit bei 'alten' Threads eben nicht mehr so groß und eben nicht speziell ist. Understandable?

Hmm, so it seems the crankshaft pulley bolt is loosening. Isn't the pulley secured against rotation with a pin, like with the ESP system? And then, why is it only shifting so little? If it were completely loose, nothing would probably work at all!

Nein! Das Thema gehört in den alten Thread.... But never mind!

The countershaft gear is secured against twisting with a type of interference fit. However, if the screw loosens, the pressure of the gear on the countershaft stub is lost, and under the acting forces, this interference fit is 'worn' by the loose, moving gear. The result is that the gear rotates freely and uncontrollably on the countershaft stub. This leads to constantly shifting valve timing. I think it's only in extreme cases that nothing works at all. This would happen if the interference fit is completely destroyed, and the valve timing is then off by one tooth or more.

Hmmmmmmm...

I'd try something like 'KW screw 1Z' or 'crankshaft screw 1Z.' Just be a little creative.
