Hello,

Okay, I followed the instructions for the pump settings as described.

Yes, it was field 000 and fields 2 and 9. Why shouldn't the values be correct if they were measured by the VAG program in this way?

Similar values were also found by another user.

[url]/viewtopic.php?p=32178

I would like to know if the values I have read out for my vehicle are correct, or if they deviate significantly from the expected values, and if they do deviate, by how much.

"Actually, about 2 months ago, the timing belt was replaced, and a larger water pump housing (12mm) was installed. Additionally, I have 0.232 injectors."

Well, recently, especially with the cold weather, my car takes a long time to start.

I would appreciate your help icon_smile.gif.

Regards,

If you see a value of 6/147 displayed in measurement point 2/9 within block 000, the pump is completely misconfigured.

The number 147 might be correct, but it's just a number, not actually 147 degrees.

In the technical article "Testing and Adjusting the 1.9 Liter TDI Distributor Injection Pump," which you have probably already read, there are diagrams showing where these values should be.

While not directly applicable to the AHF engine, if the information is completely incorrect for all the TDIs mentioned, it's unlikely to be perfectly accurate for the very similar AHF engine either.

Furthermore, your VAGCOM device might provide you with the exact diagram you need, labeled "TDI TIMER."

Make sure the person who did this major renovation properly adjusts the pump for you.

Greetings.

Hello,

I thought that the pump wasn't properly adjusted icon_confused.gif. That would explain the bad behavior of my car.

I tried running the diagram using the TDI Timing Checker, but without success. The program seems to be telling me that my laptop or the connection is too slow to record the diagram, which is strange, since it's a 1600MHz laptop with 256MB of RAM, and the connection is through COM1. However, I have to admit that everything is running really slowly.

Here's the translation:

"Another question: I have a different pump head installed, the 12mm one. Can I still use the standard values from the AHF [presumably a device or system]?"

Greetings icon_smile.gif

Then you should try closing all background programs, especially antivirus software, or consider installing a "clean" version of Windows.
My laptop is an incredibly slow VIA 733MHz piece of junk, and everything works perfectly on it.

I would be very interested to know more about the error message "it seems like the program is telling me that my laptop or perhaps the connection is too slow to record the diagram."
Because I can't recall any corresponding text related to VAG-COM in my training data.

For RS232 adapters, a Pentium 100 is sufficient!

Another question: I have a different pump head installed, the 12mm one. Can I still use the standard values from the AHF in that case????

As I see it, it's not about which parts you've installed, but about the timing of when the diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder.
What do you think the needle lift solenoid is for, and how is the start of injection determined?

I find it a bit sad that you're dismantling half the car without really knowing what you're doing. Please contact the seller/installer of your parts.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello alec1,

I can only confirm Ulf's statement regarding the computer! icon_biggrin.gif

I have an 8-year-old 200 MHz P2 with 64 MB of RAM, running WIN95 (but it's already the model without steam power icon_wink.gif).
For me, the whole thing runs smoothly via RS232/V.24 with a custom-built interface that I optimized myself.
The data transfer rate of the VAG-COM interface is usually significantly lower than when browsing the internet.

Best regards,
K.O.
