Hello TDI enthusiasts!
I have a 1993 Audi 80 TDI with engine code 1Z. In recent weeks, there has been an increase in smoke production. The car also has 220,000 km on the odometer, but I drive it very carefully. Two years ago, a new timing belt, valves, and cylinder head were installed. Normally, I consume around 5.5 to a maximum of 6 liters when driving economically on the highway. Yesterday, the fuel consumption was significantly higher despite the same driving style. Could this be related to the electronics, such as a faulty mass airflow sensor or a problem with the engine control unit?
I am grateful for any suggestions that could help solve the problem!
Thank you very much, Andreas B.
