Hello,

'I'm having an idle problem with my A3. When the engine starts, the idle speed is around 830 RPM. However, as soon as I briefly press the accelerator, the idle settles at 1000-1200 RPM, and it's quite unstable (fluctuating RPM). The error code in the diagnostic memory is 00533: 'Idle speed control, lower limit exceeded.' This error only appears after pressing the accelerator; there are no errors when starting or idling. Interestingly, when the air conditioning/ventilation is turned on, the RPM drops back towards 800. I've already removed and cleaned the throttle valve. I've also checked for vacuum leaks using brake cleaner... '
The initial setup is running without any problems. Do you perhaps have any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Hat.

Maybe you should check out an A3 forum and do some reading... Probably a 1.6, right?

Assumption:
Throttle body, most likely. Are the temperature and lambda values within the normal range? Is the throttle position sensor reading plausible?

Yes, it's a 1.6L engine with 101 horsepower, engine code AKL. The temperature and lambda values are within the normal range, as indicated by VAGCOM.

Best regards,

Hat.

hi.

"If you've cleaned the throttle body, you should clear the learned values of the engine control unit (ECU) before performing the adaptation procedure; otherwise, the whole process might be useless (based on experience)."

"On the 1.6 models (at least the A3), the lambda sensors regularly fail. My friend needs a new one for every inspection... but you said yours are okay, so it doesn't matter."

Okay, so delete the learned values and retrain the model.

I'm familiar with the throttle body issues. They're apparently also prone to problems. That's also why I suggested the 1.6 [engine].

I also thought that initially... however, if you delete the learning values before starting the learning process, suddenly there are significantly fewer throttle bodies that are defective icon_wink.gif.

Which learning values should be deleted, and where? It would be helpful if you could provide more details.

Thank you very much.

Hat.

Oh... let me think (I only know the original VAG tester).

either.

I believe the former.

Possible symptoms for diagnostic trouble code 00533:
- high fuel consumption

Possible causes:
- Vacuum leak between the mass airflow sensor (MAF) and the engine.
- faulty injector(s)
- fuel pressure regulation faulty.
- faulty throttle valve
- air filter is dirty.

possible solutions:
- Throttle valve basic adjustment.
- Check hoses/intake manifold for leaks (e.g., using brake cleaner).
- Check the air filter.
- Check fuel pressure / fuel pressure regulator.
- Check the EGR valve.
- check the injector(s)
