GRA Not Working Passat 3B 1999

Hello,

I have purchased a retrofit kit for my Passat 3B 1.9 TDI, manufactured in March 1999.
"I just installed it, and it's brand new. I've done this before on a Passat 3BG from 2002 without any problems. But today, it didn't work. I was surprised that the light didn't come on when I activated the GRA (automatic high beam). Does the Passat even have a control light for this in the instrument cluster? I activated it with VAG COM, but it's not working. I checked the error memory, but there are no errors. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm 100% sure I connected the cables correctly."

Check the switch bits using the diagnostic function and see if GRA (Gearbox Ratio Adaptation) is active (this can be seen in the control unit information in VAG-COM).

My 1998 Passat doesn't have a GRA light in the instrument cluster (GRA was added later), while my father's 2000 Golf does (GRA was original). You can easily see it when the GRA is not active. So, it's likely that your instrument cluster doesn't have a light.

Thanks for your replies. Are you asking if the GRA (Graphics Rendering Accelerator) is enabled? You can tell if it's enabled by the "G" indicator, but is there a way to check if it's currently active?

P.S. In the diagnosis, it is possible to test the individual "switch functions."

The lamp turns on at a specific software version (year/part number/hardware version of the control unit). If you were to install a control unit from 2002, it would

Subject: Vag-Com and GRA, please unlock them again, including turning the ignition on/off to confirm. Then, a test drive. If it still doesn't work, repeat the process. We just had another case where it only worked after the 3rd attempt. The exact reason for this is still unknown .

Mine is a 01/2001 model.

Is it just the light that's not working for you, or is the cruise control malfunctioning?

The lamp might not be installed (it wasn't in my Golf IV from 1998 either).

If the cruise control is not working correctly while driving, check the bits using VAG-Com (each switch position can then be read).

I recently had a speed limiter installed (through a VW service action), and the lever was defective (a contact was loose), which could be seen in the VAGCom diagnostic tool. Now I understand why those levers were being offered for sale...

But VW exchanged it for free.

Nothing is working. Neither the lamp nor the GRA. Where can I read the bits in VAG COM? I've already tried to find something, but without success?

=> there are many results.

Try using measurement group 6.
