This weekend, my car is scheduled for a timing belt replacement after 90,000 km. In my vehicle, the timing belt tensioner is mechanically separate from the tensioner pulley.
I'm now wondering if it's necessary to replace the spindle. It's clear that a new one is usually better.
Sure, get rid of that old tensioner... an engine failure will cost more than a new tensioner... and don't forget to replace the water pump.
