Steering wheel replacement

No information available regarding steering wheel replacement or interchangeability.
between the individual steering wheels of the various models.
I found something, and I'd like to follow up on it.

The leather on the steering wheel of my Ibiza 6k is now starting to...
150,000 km, showing significant wear and reduced grip due to the worn areas.
My goal is to find a steering wheel in 'like new' condition from the Ibiza model series.

Ideally, I would prefer one of the current models.

I can only answer one of the points with certainty, so I'll leave the rest for now. Just a reminder that modifications to airbags should really be left to professionals, and I can't imagine that a 6L airbag would be compatible with a 6K.

"This is easily done - I had to do it before with a 6K GP01 because of a repair to the turn signal switch. Once the airbag is removed (be sure to take necessary safety precautions!), it's just a large nut (I've forgotten the size, but it's a standard size that you usually have). The steering wheel itself then sits on a multi-spline, which makes it easy to put it back on correctly if you mark a small line on it." You must be extremely careful not to twist or misalign the airbag hose winding mechanism in any way when reassembling it.

Overall, I would leave the airbag replacement as is, as long as it's not 100% clear that it can be done safely.

Hello, I once saw that the airbag in the steering wheel of the latest Audi TT has two cables connected to the ignition coil. Can anyone tell me what those cables are for? And what's the difference compared to older models? If you were to install this steering wheel in an Audi A4 8E, would you also need to replace the airbag control unit, or would the airbag still work with the old control unit?

'I've already replaced the leather steering wheel on my Ibiza twice! It just keeps peeling off! It's better if you check if you can find a well-maintained one at an auction house! I got the last one for 25 euros about 3 weeks ago, and I also treated the leather with a protective coating/refreshing product, which cost another 8 euros!' It looks brand new now!
