hello
I recreated the circuit to test the '10 cent tuning' and I'm impressed that you can get so much extra power for about 7 euros.
My question is: I've read several times that the '10-cent tuning' (presumably a small adjustment) should only be activated later, due to the engine control unit (ECU) check during startup. I tried leaving the tuning activated and starting the car normally. Usually, if there's an error, the glow plug indicator should light up, and the engine should go into limp mode. However, I didn't experience either of those things. The light didn't come on, and the car started and ran normally.
Should I be happy about this, or should I be worried?
ixery
PS:
'I used a small switch, a 500-ohm potentiometer (linear, mono), two diodes (connected in anti-parallel), and the original connectors for the connection. I started with a 300-ohm resistor and reduced it to approximately 150-200 ohms. At 300 ohms, there was hardly any increase in power, but with around 200 ohms, it started to smoke slightly, and the increase in power was noticeable. I also tried increasing it further, but it smoked too much for my liking.'

Hello Ixery,
It looks like the two antiparallel diodes might already be enough to bypass the EDC start test. For safety, you can check the error memory.
Regarding the over-voltage capacity, I would limit it to the usual range (~20-25%) to minimize the risk of defects.
Greetings and have fun, Rainer.

Normally, the preheating lamp should illuminate when the chip is recognized and an error is stored, or the emergency program should start. That's why I'm a little surprised.
But I'll check the error codes after the holidays and see what it looks like.
I'm just concerned that something might not be quite right with the 'original' condition of the car. Unfortunately, I don't have another Passat with the same 110 hp to compare it to, and this is actually my first diesel car ever.
I have to admit that I was a dedicated gasoline driver until now, but after just 200 kilometers on diesel, and with hardly any noticeable change in fuel consumption, things have already changed significantly. However, it's difficult for me to say whether everything is running smoothly with my current car, as I previously owned a 328 with 193 horsepower.
When I bought the car, it only reached a top speed of 140 km/h for the first few kilometers, and only after a few kilometers did it reach around 190 km/h. It also smoked quite a lot at first. The car was previously driven by an older gentleman.

Hi everyone,
Whether the engine computer detects a 10c tuning modification upon ignition, in my opinion, is also related to the (factory) settings of the ignition timing.
They seem to vary individually within the tolerance range of the engine control unit, so that some pumps may trigger the glow plug warning light even with minor tuning, while others can handle more aggressive modifications.
As long as there are no performance issues or stuttering, I wouldn't worry about it.
Regarding the question of actual performance, for example, perform a 2000-4000 rpm acceleration test. The link on Rainer's website allows you to calculate the approximate "target time." Gruß Ulf
