Hi,
For around 800 euros, you can get a Webasto Thermo Top E with a T100 HTM. For 200 euros more, you can get the 'P' version, which offers 30% more power and a shorter warm-up time, and is supposedly based on newer technology.
The big question is, is the €200 difference worth it for the new model, or is the E model perfectly adequate, and would it be better to spend the €200 on gas and a good meal?
Does anyone working in this field have experience and can say whether this part is really worth it?

I don't work in the automotive industry, and I'm not familiar with the specific differences. I own a small Eberspächer D4WSC auxiliary heater with a simple on/off remote control.
Here's what I consider important or in need of improvement after two winters:
My heater, due to the lack of remote control adjustment for heating power, only operates at the middle 'Economy' setting (2.6 kW) when the engine is not running. Consequently, my Bora Kombi requires at least 20, and more likely 30, minutes of heating time in sub-zero temperatures to reach a temperature where the windshields are properly defrosted and a thin layer of snow has melted.
Even when running at full power (which happens automatically when the engine is running), the auxiliary heater's heating capacity is not able to warm the car noticeably faster than the engine heat and the glow plug heater already do.
You can roughly estimate your heating times based on this information.
If you occasionally want to quickly heat up a space, I recommend the most powerful available heater model with a smart remote control (which provides general feedback, battery voltage, indoor temperature, and heating level adjustment).
For Eberspächer, there are also additional thermostats available for the cooling circuit, which allow the heating system to only heat a small circuit with the heat exchanger for the vehicle's interior (primarily). While this addition is only recommended for van-sized vehicles, it's certainly worth considering if you want a parking heater that provides warmth almost instantly.
Best regards,
herwig

Hi,
I can only share my own experiences. I have a ThermoTop E in my Audi 100, which is actually designed for smaller cars. It's not a problem for me that it takes 15 or 20 minutes to defrost, as it runs on a timer anyway. Of course, faster is better, but whether you need that is something you have to decide for yourself. When considering Webasto, the Comfort Clock 1533, with its Ford-style design, is an option, as it allows you to adjust the operating time. The new ThermoTop V with Venturi burner is also available; it's biodiesel-compatible and may not require a new combustion chamber as often as previous models. Assuming, of course, that the glow plug can still be replaced individually. Gruß Christian

I was able to acquire the Thermo Top P at a good price; it will probably be installed in the car next week. Let's see how long it takes to heat up the small car .

Hello everyone!
Since the Webasto ThermoTop V was mentioned earlier, I'd like to know if it's possible to install the combustion chamber of a ThermoTop V gasoline SH unit onto a ThermoTop V SH unit that uses diesel fuel.
Do the fittings match, and is the conversion even possible?
Probably, the electronics will also need to be replaced, right?
Please provide information!
Best regards.
Maxx.
