Question about the location of the MAP sensor in the AKN engine.
Looking in the direction of travel, you'll find the intercooler on the left side and at the top right corner.
Is that him?
"There are 3 wires connected to the plug. Wire 3 has a white marking, wire 4 has a red marking. Wire 2 has no marking, and is wire 1 ground?"

At the position you described, there is a sensor; quote from the repair manual: 'Manifold pressure sensor - G71'. It is secured with two screws (torque: 10 Nm).

I hope you can make something of this.

Thank you for the information.
The sensor has a standard connector and socket.
4-pole, slightly oval shape.
Are these common spare parts for vehicles manufactured by the Volkswagen Group (VAG)? And are they easy to obtain?
Since I want to install an additional connector and a tap between the MAP sensor and the connection.
Since I don't want to block the supply line.
I want to test slight increases in boost pressure with a 100-ohm potentiometer after the AVOS sensor.

Thank you.

Best regards, Horstel.

Hello,

Currently, I'm using a resistance of 75 ohms; at 100 ohms, the overshoots were too aggressive.

The resistor is neatly hidden inside the rubber grommet of the plug.

I modified the sensor because my boost pressure input at the control unit was always measuring about 0.15-0.2 bar too high. This resulted in the actual pressure, as measured by the LDA (Lambda Direct Injection), being lower than expected.

Good luck!

Rainer.

Hello, thank you for the information.
Since you have some experience, I have a few questions.

Did the extra 0.12 bar have any noticeable effect on the torque?

The overspeed protection is only active up to 2800 RPM; then the Turgbo switches the vanes. After that, it lowers. I have a cheap mechanical gauge installed after 50 cm of turbocharger piping in a metal tube.
Is the boost pressure lower behind the two intercoolers?
At loads above 3000, it stabilizes at a maximum of 1.28 units (with only a 10-centimeter adjustment; at 10 centimeters, it immediately stabilizes at 1.2icon_cool.gif.

Regards,

Horstel.

Hello Horstel,

The pressure should be the same everywhere, but it probably takes a few milliseconds for it to equalize throughout the system.

I can't say for sure whether I notice the 0.15 difference while driving. I suspect it's more likely to be measurable with instruments. But I mainly did it for him.

Greetings.
Rainer.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I only have a cheap pressure gauge.

So, 100 ohms was too much; it kept whistling constantly during the cycles.
The pressure could no longer be measured accurately.

Then I reduced the resistance to 50 ohms.

Now, under load at higher RPMs, it reaches a maximum of 1.45 bar, whereas before it was 1.28 bar.
With a resistance of 100 ohms, it was probably around 1.6-1.7 or even higher.

The 50-ohm version seems acceptable compared to the series option.

Make sure to check the oil level and enable the emergency mode for longer stretches of driving at full throttle.
I have a 10-cent tuning.
For example, driving 20 kilometers at 230 km/h, then shifting to the 5th gear, and finally having a 3-kilometer emergency range at 120 km/h.
Let's see if both of them are gone now.

Thank you for your help. Best regards.

Horstel.

Hi Horstel,

"That's shoddy work. 1.7 bar is far too much."
Apart from that: 10C tuning doesn't work with the AKN at all, so a picture of what you changed would be interesting icon_smile.gif.

Best regards, Rainer.
