Hello, fellow diesel enthusiasts.
Yesterday, I had a new software installed on my Golf VI ALH, manufactured in 2002. The power was increased from 90 to 120 horsepower, and the torque was increased from 210 to 266 Nm.
Regarding the driving experience: It already feels incredibly powerful.
DZR times:
Original: 8.8 - 9.2 seconds.
Chip: 7.2 - 7.8 seconds (1460 kg with driver).
Beschleunigung 130-150 original: 15 Sek. Then, wait for 7-8 seconds.
After that, I logged the data using VAG.
According to the tuner, the boost pressure was increased by 0.25 bar.
Here are the logged values for MWB 11, with the engine at full throttle in 4th gear (while driving uphill):

The LMM consistently delivered its target values (850 mg/R) up to 3700 U/min, after which it decreased.
(800 mg/day).
Sorry for this presentation.
My question is:
Why are the 0.25 bar LD (boost) values not visible in log MWB 11, and why has the target LD value at idle been increased to 1142 mbar?
Could this possibly be a poorly implemented (unprofessional, or 'fake' in programming terms) LD (luminance diffusion) enhancement?
What is your opinion on this tuning?
Regards,
Borys.

Hm,
Indeed, that looks strange. The values don't match the tuner's output.
Where did you take the measurement?
A1 highway (towards the Moselle valley)?
Because 4000 in the 4th [place] is already quite fast.
In idle, the VTG is at its maximum value of "24.7%", and it is set to "CLOSED".
With a quick "slap," it should also create a significant overshoot... although it would also generate a lot of pressure, which is probably what the tuner was trying to achieve.
Setting the torque limit to 51 mg is RUBBISH. Because that's the pump's maximum, so it's effectively DISABLED, and the car will always run at the Russian border (referring to a maximum limit).
I'm not a tuner, but that looks like garbage.

Hello Martin,
It happened on a country road between Schweich and Föhren. I also didn't dare to turn the steering wheel any further; it was really fast.
There are also decent pressure boosters that can go up to 1.5 bar, and those existed even before the tuning. However, the LD (likely referring to a specific system or component) will quickly readjust.
Regards,
Borys.

Can you still choose between "tuned" and "original"?
Then I would create diagrams showing how the manifold vacuum behaves when you apply original throttle versus what it does when it's tuned.
I personally find 1.5 bar to be quite high for a target of just under 1 bar.
Is your VTG definitely working correctly, and has it not been running with original software that has been limited (e.g., to 24.7% or 80-90%)? (I'm not sure right now what the PWM value is for the maximum downward regulation.)
I definitely wouldn't want to drive that software.
With the calibration, you'll also notice every single microgram less that the LMM delivers – precisely because you're constantly scraping against the Russian border.
Do yourself and others a favor and don't drive at full speed in the fourth gear on country roads – do it on the highway instead.
If you're driving as far as Foehren, you might as well get on the highway.

Hello Martin,
Unfortunately, the programming cannot be turned off.
MWB 11: Idle speed before chip tuning.
12.82 903 999.6 1040.4 24.7
14.02 903 999.6 1030.2 24.7
MWB 11, idle state, then.
0.34 903 1142.4 1009.8 24.7
1.54 903 1142.4 1009.8 24.7
2.74 903 1142.4 1009.8 24.7
3.94 903 1142.4 1009.8 24.7
When the VTG is initially set, it moves smoothly back and forth.
The overshoot disappears after 1-2 seconds.
The ones with 1.5 bar were intentionally over-pressurized.
Under normal acceleration, the pressure is approximately 1.25 to 1.35 bar.
Regards,
Borys.

OK.
"Since the PWM value is 24.7 both before and after the tuning, it seems the controller (software) has a termination condition. Before the tuning, the actual value is too high, and after the tuning, it's too low."
if (IDLE) then VTG_CLOSED;
Standard swingers, up to 1.35 bar, already sound more realistic.
But that doesn't change anything about the constant border disputes with Russia.
Did you officially purchase the tuning?
If so, with whom?

Hi.
What do you mean by 'officially'? There's simply no record of it.
The software was developed by ****4***** programmers.

Maybe you could try using a different encoding method (with standard software) sometime.
Normally, the control unit still contains software versions for automatic transmission and 4Motion/syncro. These are used when employing a switchable tuning system.
You will likely get an error message (e.g., communication with the bus interrupted), but if you're lucky, it will work normally.
'I should try it out sometime this weekend with a manual transmission (with my automatic transmission, only the first gear is available in the 4Motion coding).'

Hi,

It's quite simple: either the person who made the statement was mistaken, or the person who manufactured the chip didn't know how to increase the pressure to 0.25 bar.
That wouldn't have happened here in the shop.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
I originally wanted to have my car tuned by you, but it was too far away, and I didn't want to have the engine control unit removed or be without my car.
Well, next time it will definitely work. (New nozzles + performance stage 1).
What size injectors are you using for this tuning (ALH) - 0.205?
Is it possible to increase the boost pressure through programming in a way that wouldn't be detected during a dyno test?
As Martin already wrote, I'm driving near the Russian border.
Regards,
Borys.

Yes, but it doesn't really make sense, as it would be very complicated. Besides, you would be able to see it in your log even without the boost pressure reading.

Is that the logical consequence...?
