When accelerating from 2nd and 3rd gear, there's a knocking sound coming from the transmission (similar to a worn engine mount). The workshop suspected play in the drive shaft splines in the wheel hub (as apparently seen in some Audi A2 models). However, this turned out to be incorrect. Does anyone know about this issue, and is it simply increased transmission shaft play from the 6-speed gearbox?
Best regards, Markus D. :?:

Hello,
I know those two things.
02M 6-speed, 1.9L TDI, 85/110 kW.
Engine code: AJM/ARL, Transmission unit: DRW/EFF. Transmission noises (whining/humming) in 2nd to 6th gear, both during acceleration and deceleration.
Cause:
Unfavorable tolerances in the manufacturing process/gearbox, unfavorable gear mesh conditions.
Customer service:
Please proceed with the complaint in cases of persistent issues.
Contact your product support team.
Diesel, 6-speed manual transmission.
Grinding/scratching noises during load changes, tension/compression.
Cause:
During gear changes, the transmission contacts the padding used for noise dampening in manual transmissions.
Procedure:
Cutting out padding for noise dampening in the plant area. Tschüss

Question for Michael II: Do these mentioned unfavorable gear tolerances, if the system continues to operate, have any impact on traffic safety?

Hello,
Unfortunately, I cannot assess the extent of the force acting in the first case. However, it is certainly reasonable to assume a slightly higher degree of wear. Tschüss
