Hi,

I was just at VW (which also provides Seat service) and asked about getting an extra key.

They would still need to program it, which could only be done "online." It's not possible for me to provide you with code to do that yourself... because it's "only available online."

How exactly does that work on a 2001 Leon that looks like a G4?

Thank you.

Hi,

You need either the static login code for VCDS or the 7-digit daily code for the immobilizer. Then you can use VCDS to program the key to the other vehicles (without needing help from VW/Seat).

That part about the online aspect is correct to a certain extent; the issue is simply that the customer is not being given this data and information related to the WFS. Depending on the data available on the VW diagnostic tool, the pairing process can also be done offline, although very few people actually do it that way.

You can access the code through various tools, or your VW/Seat dealer can retrieve it via a fax query, which is still possible. icon_wink.gif

Thank you.

We need to decide first whether we're going to use a regular key or a remote key. If I have it in my hand, I'll start fiddling with it. If that doesn't work out, I can still go to VW/Seat, and then they'll have something to laugh about too icon_smile.gif.
