Hello everyone,

Does anyone happen to know where I could find a wiring diagram for the control unit mentioned above? One of the transistors looks suspicious, and I would like to understand its function.

Thank you for your help!

You can only obtain a circuit diagram for such a device from Bosch, and even then, only if you work there and have a certain security clearance.

These circuit diagrams are actually trade secrets.

Hello,

Thanks for the tip. I have a friend who develops software for control units at Bosch; I'll reach out to him and see if he can get something like that.

Regards,
Canidae.

...I have an acquaintance who develops software for engine control units at Bosch; I'll contact him to see if he can get something like that.

If it comes out, that was likely to be his last assignment from Bosch, and the employee...
The person who provided him with the documents has lost their job (and may also face further consequences).
Advertisement for both...

...and that for something that didn't help anyone, because the installed parts are inaccessible.
You can't really get anything that isn't Bosch-specific (almost everything with more than three legs is).

It's better to get a new/different ECU (Engine Control Unit).

Best regards,
Rudi

Hello Rudi,

It doesn't cost anything to just ask him. I already had another control unit installed for over €1,000 (!), and they gave me the old one back. I suspect the defect is in that component. I also saw on sender.de that they repair control units there, so maybe it's still worth it for my old one. However, I have to mention that my car ran better with the old, then defective, control unit than it does now with the new one (black smoke, no power where there used to be, occasional stalling at 1,500 rpm even when releasing the accelerator, the engine once kept running even after being turned off, fuel consumption increased by about 1 liter per 100 km, etc.). Next week, the car will go back to the Bosch service and will stay there until everything is fixed.

Regards,
Canidae.

What is the part number for the control unit (is it the same for old and new versions?)?
Did you (or a previous owner) have it tuned?
If you like, please take a picture of the control cabinet where the potentially defective component is located.
recognizing is.

Best regards,
Rudi

Hello Rudi,

Legacy part number: 0 281 001 997
New part number: 0 281 001 997

Here's a picture of the STG (control unit) and the injector. I suspect the defect is in the second component from the left at the bottom (R4389), as the circuit board around its leftmost pin appears slightly darker, and the solder on the four ground contacts of the component (at the bottom edge of the picture) seems to be corroded or eaten away.

...so first of all, I doubt I'll find such a part anywhere...they are definitely not standard parts. Secondly, the part seems okay...if the power transistor (if it is one) has burned out, you would see that quite clearly, and this part also looks very strict in its construction. Possibly, this control unit ("STG") is "refurbished," which might suggest a somewhat "careless" soldering job. On the other hand, unfortunately, it's impossible to make completely accurate statements based on the photo alone (you have to see the part, tilt it, smell it, feel it, and ultimately measure it icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif)...although this photo was actually taken quite well.

...BTW...have you already mentioned the vehicle type/vehicle data here, or have I missed something icon_twisted.gif ???

Best regards, Styrian.

Hello Styrian,

Thank you for your assessment. I certainly hope that they didn't install a "reconditioned" part in a new car back then! By the way, it's a Renault Laguna 1.9 dCi manufactured in 2000. Perhaps I should have this part checked by "qualified professionals," but then I wonder where these companies get the necessary circuit diagrams if they claim to be able to completely overhaul the ECUs icon_rolleyes.gif.

When it comes to the Laguna, you should probably check the area around the engine wiring harness... icon_smile.gif

Are there any known issues with this? I often read the Renault forums, but I can't recall seeing anything like that mentioned. If there are problems, what parts tend to fail?

Canidae.
