EDC 15, ME7, ME9: Development and Tuning

The situation is similar with EDC16 and MED9 (MPC55x).

My questions arise because a friend of mine (who programs for Bosch engine control units) told me, "you don't just buy a diesel." The conversation was about the engine control and control pneumatics of TDIs.
