TDI Badges on Leon: Many Different Numbers

Hi,

If you want a TDI for a model year 01 Leon, the parts catalog will be quite interesting.

Has Seat changed the type labels multiple times?

I had the years 98-99 and 99-01... both with the addition "chrome/red".

6K0 853 687 AD for over 16 EUR.
1M5 853 687 F for 9 EUR.

Was ist mit der Schreibweise von "Leon"? Was ist daran besonders?
(and not like the Golf Cabrio, which has two - one resembling the G3 and one resembling the G4).

Does anyone know more details about what the band "99" supposedly did?

I also took a look... it seems like there might be something mixed up in the catalog *probably*.

As I understand it, one is for the Leon/Toledo, and the other is for the newer Leon, Altea, etc. But don't ask me why the model years are included.

It's slowly dawning on me.

The Toledo was initially available with Golf 3-style lettering, while the Leon only later adopted its own lettering, which resembled the look of the Golf 4.

The vehicle with the chassis number 1M5 853 687 F was manufactured between 10/98 and 6/99... and the Leon model didn't exist yet at that time!

The part number 6K0 853 687 AD, labeled "La I in red," should be the correct one. Otherwise, the only other option available is the "T/DI chrome/red/red" version with part number 1M6 853 687 K.

Especially, the 6K0 number fits because the Ibiza 6K was also available as the GP01 model with the ASV engine.

It should look like this (but not so faded).

Why go to so much trouble? The red color is just a simple adhesive film; you just peel off the old one and put on the new one – and that's it. It's a shame about the money and the hassle...

First, the vinyl letters gradually started peeling off, one by one (I still have the one from the 'T'), and then, while washing the car, the entire 'T' letter fell off and was lying underneath. But I might still have a piece of red vinyl lying around somewhere; I'll have to check."
