Hello everyone,

A quick question with hopefully a short answer:

Can new nozzles be identified on VP 37 engines from the outside? Article Number, Color or Oxidation State, perhaps?

Problem is:
A colleague bought a Passat 3B with AHH engine and slightly more than 200,000 km. The previous owner was a leasing agency, which took care of all maintenance and repairs. The vehicle has a service history, however, there is no proof of additional repairs.
Since the vehicle has reached its mileage in just under 6 years, it is very likely that it has been used extensively on highways.
Now, a tuning is planned, and this should only be done with 'good' nozzles. Just nobody knows if he still has the original nozzles.

Thank you for any assistance.

Best regards,
Jochen

That's probably impossible to say, as the nozzles can only receive new deployments. Furthermore, the aging process depends on the use and maintenance. You're talking about the nozzle holders, which don't break.

Just take it out and let it go. Then you know.

I was right all along, but I could have missed something...

If I remove them once, can I also replace them directly?
I personally believe, based on my gut feeling, that these old nozzles are still being used.

Thank you.
Best regards,
Jochen

But figuring that out should be easy.

So, das Fahrzeug gehörte einer Leasingfirma. Ist es denn so, dass alle Wartungsarbeiten bei VAG durchgeführt werden? If so, continue reading, otherwise go to the end.
Since nozzles are not part of the maintenance schedule, they can only be replaced if there is some kind of malfunction. The VAG dealer who performed the change should have made a note of it in the computer, so it's worth a try to go through with VAG using the VIN, and also to double-check.
However, I also expect that you will find some of the initial ones there.

Okay, we will be installing new nozzles.

Here are the requested corrections:

The engine is an AHH with a 5-speed SG:
Does this have an 11mm VP due to the EU3 standard?
Do we need to order 220 bar nozzles here?

Since my colleague wants to tune, the question is whether to use 0.205 or 0.216 nozzles.
Desired performance with a chip of approximately 130 hp.
Therefore, 0.205 should be sufficient, right?

Thank you for any assistance.

hi jochen,

for this performance, the 205s should still be sufficient.
A major advantage is that you can also drive them without a chip (then around 105 hp).
216s will be produced without chips due to lack of air, resulting in a nice flag behind the Passat.

the pressure of the first stage will confuse you, but I also bet on 220 bar.
