Vehicle: VW Passat Variant 1.9 TDi, 2002, Highline, 121,000 km.

Below approximately 6°C, a continuous three-tone warning sounds after driving through right-hand curves, and the MFA (Multi-Function Display) shows: "Stop - Brake Error - Consult Owner's Manual."

Since I drive our son across the city to school every morning, and there are many right turns along the way, there is unfortunately a lot of annoying beeping in my ears javascript:emoticon('icon_confused.gif')

This error message no longer appears when temperatures are above approximately 10°C.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes.

Find the cause and fix the error.

Check the brake pad wear sensor and wiring coming from the brake pad for shorts to ground. Check the brake fluid reservoir for fluid level. Also, check the secure fit and electrical connection of the connectors.

My Passat also had a brake error, but I don't remember the exact message that appeared.

It was the brake wear sensor for me. On one wheel, it wasn't working. I checked it by bridging the individual sensors until the warning message disappeared. Then I measured the wear sensor itself, and there was still continuity. After cleaning the contacts, I no longer have any problems.

I find that curve thing strange. It might not be a faulty wheel sensor. Take a look at what the error memory says.
