The control unit for the electric parking brake (also known as the handbrake), which is used in vehicles such as the Audi A3 8PA, Passat Typ 3C/CC, Audi A5, Audi Q5, Audi A6 Typ 4F and 4G, Audi Q7, Audi A7, Audi A8 Typ 4E, VW Tiguan Typ 5N, VW Touareg, etc., has the following control unit address: 53.
The control unit for the electric parking brake (handbrake) on the Golf 7 is integrated into the ABS/ESP control unit (brake control unit), which has the control unit address 03.

To change the coating using VAG-COM / VCDS, go to the basic settings mode of the control unit for the parking brake:

Block 5 opens the parking brake for tire replacement (only for Audi A8!).
Measurement block 6 disables the brake.
Block 7: Opens the brake (also for pad replacement, other models, for Passat 3C, please wait 30s before disconnecting from the control unit, as some control units have a firmware error)
Measurement block 10 initiates a functional test (3x open/close, function test)
Measurement block 20 sets the sensor for lateral acceleration (G251) to its default value.

In newer vehicles, this does not work via the data blocks; instead, please use the drop-down menu displayed in VCDS during adaptation.

The vehicle must be parked on a level surface, with the brakes released, and the 'P' position must be engaged in automatic transmissions.

The adaptation channels 20 and 21 are used to reset the internal counter for actuation operations to 0 when replacing the parking brake motor.

Important: When using VCDS to open/close the brakes or perform a function test, please ensure that the brake caliper is properly seated on the brake disc! No fingers inside anywhere!
