Hello,

Approximately 1 1/2 months ago, I purchased a DIY diagnostic adapter COM kit. Following advice from forums and other sources, I didn't buy a diagnostic adapter from ebxx. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of trouble with the kit. It simply doesn't work; I can't read any data, although VAG-COM recognizes it. I've tried to eliminate the potential error sources that Rainer suggested, as much as I could. However, I'm not an electrician.

Since I can't find a solution myself, and even an acquaintance who works with electrical systems couldn't help me further, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to take a look at the device or repair it?

I would send it to the person with the hope of getting it back icon_smile.gif, along with the money for return shipping plus €10. I hope that it will work out then.

I would be happy if someone were to get in touch.

Best regards,

Martin.

"Please take a picture of the part, both sides. Make sure it's not just an assembly error. I have one too, and mine worked perfectly right away."

If the ICs were socketed, I would definitely take a look at yours, but with these soldered-in ICs, I can't easily remove them without damaging anything.

Have you desoldered any components again? Unfortunately, it's very easy to damage the circuit board in the process.

Hello,

Where did you buy the kit?

I think the manufacturer or supplier should offer you support and a warranty in this case.

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will then give you only the translation, without any explanations.

....

Hello, and how can any manufacturer or supplier possibly guarantee that a kit will be assembled/soldered correctly?
He must have already provided some assistance, as I can see.

Sure.

But I'm not going to sit around and try to figure out what someone has haphazardly thrown together; that's why you can buy the device ready-made and with a warranty.
If you follow the instructions, it will work. I've also included a list of the most common mistakes directly within the instructions on the CD.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,

Since I've only been back home for a few weeks and the diagnostic connector was there, I unfortunately can only write now. The pictures aren't very good; the camera simply can't seem to focus properly, even manually, but I hope it will be enough.

Thank you all for your answers.

At least the RS232 cable is connected incorrectly... In my opinion, the manual on the CD states:
- green
- red
- purple
- orange

Best regards, Rainer.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I think one of the 1uF electrolytic capacitors is also incorrect.

(This is also a common error and is mentioned in the manual on the CD.)

hello,

I just wanted to thank Rainer again; the adapter for the building kit is finally working icon_smile.gif. It's truly amazing; it was actually due to the swapped cables that I didn't notice. I measured everything, etc., but I never thought of something so simple. Anyway, thanks again; now I can start the diagnosis icon_smile.gif.

Now that I've finally managed to get my adapter working, and I don't want to start a new thread, I'm posting this here. The problem with my maximum speed persists; it only reaches 200 km/h with great difficulty. Therefore, I have logged the MWB values 3-8-11. Perhaps someone can help me identify the cause. Furthermore, I have another question: what could be the reason that after 30 attempts, I can only get one decent log? Before that, it always crashes, for example with an error message like "ECU not responding," etc. It seems completely random when I manage to get a good log without it almost crashing.

Here is my log for the MWB 3-8-11.
