Hello everyone,

I have a question for you. I have a Passat TDI with 90 horsepower, and I temporarily disconnected the AGR (Abgasrückführung) system for testing purposes (by removing the hose from the vacuum control valve and sealing it with a screw). The performance is noticeably better in the lower RPM range.
Now, I have the impression that the engine takes a little longer to reach its operating temperature. Could that be the case? Is there any disadvantage to driving without an EGR system during the winter months, aside from the invalid operating license?

I would be grateful for your tips.

Best regards, Franz.

Hello Franz,

The problem (if it is a problem at all) that I sometimes encountered was...

You shouldn't push the engine too hard (rev it up too high) until it reaches its operating temperature. Otherwise, I don't think the cooler fresh air will harm the engine.

Best regards.
David.

Hi.

It depends on the engine.
Apply a generous amount of AFN directly to the center of the intake manifold.
I'm not exactly sure about the 1Z, but it's probably located somewhere on the rear side.
