Original installation instructions for timing belt

Hello everyone.

Since the timing belt on my Passat TDI (manufactured in July 2000) with engine code ATJ and 85 kW is now due for replacement, I am looking for an original installation manual from Volkswagen.
A friend of mine (a certified mechanic at Ford) will help me with the procedure. He also says that, according to Ford's instructions, only empty containers and other 'mechanical' aids are required, meaning no testing equipment is necessary.
Since I have a different opinion regarding a test device based on the posts in the forum (whether it's necessary), I hope someone can enlighten me.

That's why I have these questions.
- Does anyone have a Volkswagen installation manual?
-Is a tester needed or not?
