Hello everyone,
My car (Passat 1.9TDI 96kW, AWX with Tiptronic) is currently making a terrible noise. The performance is only sufficient for 100 mph on a straight road and 40 mph uphill, at full throttle, of course.
A year ago, I experienced the same effect, which was resolved by replacing the air intake sensor. However, now I'm at the end of my rope. Several visits to VAG resulted in opinions ranging from a clogged catalytic converter to a turbocharger failure. Reading the error log once yielded 'no errors', and another time it showed the following errors:
17964 P1556 035 Load Pressure Control Control Limit Undershot Sporadically
17978 P1570 035 Engine Control Unit Malfunction
The first error should have been fixed by replacing the LMM, but without success.
The second error is actually making me very suspicious. According to the description in this technical article, my car should no longer be able to move *stutz*.
What have I done so far:
Load cell sensor replaced
LMM swapped
Check all accessible pipes and hoses for cracks and leaks.
I now ask myself, what happens next?
Can it really be the CAT? Has anyone had experience with a 'clogged CAT'?
What is the real impact of error 17978?
How can you identify a faulty or dirty VTG?
What other errors are possible?
Does anyone in Wiesbaden know a reliable workshop?
I hope we can both still be helped
Best regards from Harald from Wiesbaden
