Hello!

Yesterday, I took my car, which has 211,000 kilometers on the odometer, to ATU for an oil change. Since the car was on the stage, it was discovered that the catalytic converter was already perforated due to rust at the connection point and is in danger of breaking off soon.
Okay, so I guess I'll have to get a new catalytic converter. At 'freundlich,' the total cost will be a whopping 750 EUR, while at PIT-STOP, it's still 662 EUR, including installation. However, the PIT-STOP technician may have indicated the possibility of a better emission class after the renewal and subsequent exhaust test.

What do you think, is that even possible? Because, unlike with the gasoline engines (Twin-Tec), I haven't read anything about a potentially better insurance classification for diesel engines.

Do you perhaps have a tip on where I might be able to find it for a lower price?

Best regards, D.

Hello D.

It would be interesting to know what emission class your car currently has. I also had my 1Z converted from Euro 2 to Euro 2 for about 10 euros, without any technical modifications. Renovations.

I've heard (and read several times) that you can achieve a higher class with a 1Z by using a different catalytic converter. So, it seems possible... For me, it wasn't worth it, so I didn't bother ordering a new catalytic converter.

Best regards.
David.

Check out www.seik.de. It's a car recycling company, and they give a very friendly and, above all, competent impression. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Thank you for the quick responses.

Unfortunately, Seik.de doesn't have anything suitable in stock at the moment, but thank you. I think this website address wasn't known before, so it might still be helpful to others!

On ebay.de, there is currently a used catalytic converter (allegedly 2 years old) being offered for sale, but unfortunately, it is missing the exhaust pipe.

Best regards, D.
