VW Climatronic Noise: Golf/Passat Recall Action

Hi.

Can someone provide me with information about the action that is no longer being performed on a case-by-case basis, related to "noisy Climatronic systems in the 1K and 3C models"?

To my knowledge, all of the servo motors will be replaced with "quieter" ones.

The motors make a lot of noise in my car, both when the active suspension is engaged (e.g., when the outside temperature has changed) and when driving over uneven surfaces (Sportline with 17-inch wheels).

My VW service center is usually very accommodating, but I like to go there "prepared," so that I can potentially "help" them. Also, we have another 3C model in the family that is serviced by a different dealer.

The DISS notification was released yesterday.

Okay, just checking in today, August 9, 2007:

On June 7, 2007, there was a "TPL notification" that was supposed to read as follows:

"The clicking or ticking sound from the CT (circuit tester) comes from the servo motors. These are a mechanical system, so operating noises are normal. Costs for repairs will not be covered."

"I find it interesting" that I only learned about this after being asked and 2 months later.

It's even more "interesting" that the internet is full of customers who have disassembled their CT units and retrofitted them with quieter motors.

... it seems a letter to the company will be unavoidable...
