Hello!

Here's what my turbo looks like on the exhaust side after 30,000 kilometers. Should I be concerned about this, or should I just try tightening the bolt on the flange?

Once, quite amusingly during a DPF cleaning trip, I heard the turbocharger "chirping" and then I took a closer look at it.

Regards,
Pete.

AAAAH!

I can hear my turbo quite clearly with the windows open!
And a BMR is not entirely dissimilar to a BMN...

I can't really judge the Russian [language/person].
Since when did he go from absolutely nothing to being "like that"?

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hello!
To 'perfectly' solve your problem, the best thing to do is completely remove the pipe from the turbocharger. If there's dirt like soot or rust inside, remove it with sandpaper. And now for the surprising part: apply grease to the contact surfaces; I've had good results using gray grease designed for drive shafts. Tighten everything properly and let it warm up, and it should be permanently sealed. However, it might smell a bit during the warm-up process...

Best regards,
Dominique.

I usually don't hear my turbo at all, except for a *slight* whistling sound when I drive up the narrow garage entrance with the window open (due to reflections off the walls). Inside the car, I don't hear anything from the turbo - although everything else on this *performance car* makes noise.

As I said, I could only clearly reproduce the chirping sound once, when I took a drive around near home because the DPF cleaning was activated (*clunk*). Every time I accelerated: *chirp*; it was clearly audible inside the car. Then, the next day, I checked again; I had already inspected that area before, but nothing had caught my attention then. So, the soot buildup could have been anywhere from 100 to 10,000 km in that region...icon_confused.gif

@D. Thanks for the tip!

Regards,
Pete.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation.

(1)
Lucky this time - everything is verschandeln on the BMR.
(now I have a great macro image of the exhaust pressure sensor before the filter icon_wink.gif).

(2)
Hmm, I could try to make a recording. But it will probably be so distorted that you can't compare it to a live TDI.

Does the BMN engine have the same turbocharger as the BMR engine, which has the inset and more variable turbine geometry (VTG) blades?

Macht der BMN auch 2500 mbar abs. Boost pressure?

Do you have a front-mount intercooler (FMIC) or a side-mount intercooler (SMIC)?

These factors could also potentially make a difference in the noise generated by the turbocharger.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

I think so. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture ready that shows a part number on the turbocharger... But as far as I know, the difference between the two engines is limited to the balance shaft module.

I think so. At least, I had it to that point before (see diagram in the appendix - note that "expected" and "actual" are reversed!).

FMIC

UI

He's a terrible regulator! / He does a really bad job of regulating things!

.. over the weekend, after a relaxing ride, I also went for a full-throttle ride.

The "NULL" overclocker is brilliant – it takes some getting used to, though, how slowly the LD (likely referring to a specific component or system) starts up.

Here's the annoying consequence of the slow adjustment period:

Significant torque loss at very low RPMs!

My N75 is afraid of boost pressure!

It briefly spikes to 85.1% (meaning I want full power), and then immediately goes back into "limp mode" and only increases very slowly icon_sad.gif.

Okay, that's some really bad behavior from my device. By the time of the log I mentioned above, I already had the 0424 software version installed, which is noticeably slower than my old 0061 software version.

I'm going to try running a logging session tonight using the VAG-COM in "Turbo" mode (which is always a bit annoying with DSG transmissions). My previous log was taken in 4th gear (in S-mode, accelerating until the DSG shifted up).

It gets interesting for me when I eventually get the 1185 software installed; let's see how it looks then.

Regards,
Pete.

I drove my car with the license plate "1184".

I also need to try using the 0420 with the DZR (directional receiving antenna) – the JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) has very long transmission paths, so a DZR is almost always needed for long-distance reception.

NOPE - nothing. The laptop always crashed before. I hadn't dared to connect it to the interface using a voltage converter until now.

I'm only seeing a pressure setting of 2450 mbar, but it should increase to 2500 mbar once I switch to gas.
Why does the BMR now need those extra 50 millibars?

It's strange that all of this is happening icon_wink.gif.

Something like a positioning system on a CNC machine... Just not too far.

Here's something to add: BMN with data as of version 1185 (regarding the target value of 2450 for LDR).

Is that a DSG?
Because the boost pressure never really drops.

Kannst du versuchen, ein Log wie meines im 3. Are you going somewhere?

What exactly are you trying to tell me? Is my BMR particularly slow with the boost pressure?

Hmm, I can't really tell you.
I know of two cases within my circle of acquaintances – I didn't report it back then.
Here's one from the BMN-1185 manual switch...

No, it was about the fact that the 1185 also regulates properly to the target value of 2500 on the BMN (battery management system).

Okay, here's the translation:
