Document: Declining Engine Power, TDI V6 (Solution)

AKN/AFB engine, TDI V6.
Gradual decrease in engine power over time and mileage.
No errors found in the engine control unit.

Cause:
Oil mist can gradually reach the sensor membrane when the engine is stationary.
The air mass meter signal becomes increasingly distorted until a noticeable loss of power occurs. Due to the gradual change, errors are usually not introduced.

Solution:
Check the mass airflow sensor. Compare the target and actual values of the air mass intake in measurement block 10 under load.
Replace the mass airflow sensor if the target values are not being reached.
Check the air filter element.
