AKN/AFB engine, TDI V6.
Gradual decrease in engine power over time and mileage.
No errors are stored in the engine control unit.
Cause:
Oil mist can gradually accumulate on the sensor membrane when the engine is stationary.
The air mass meter signal becomes increasingly distorted until a noticeable loss of power occurs. Due to the slow change, an error message is usually not recorded.
Solution:
Check the mass airflow sensor. Compare the target and actual values of the air mass being drawn in, as displayed in measurement block 10, under load.
Replace the mass airflow sensor if the target values are not being reached.
Check the air filter element.
