Hello everyone,
"For the past few days, my engine has been turning off when I come to a stop, for example at a traffic light, and it won't start again."
After approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of cooling down, it can be started normally again. Once the engine reaches its operating temperature, the problem seems to disappear. However, when I'm driving and the temperature returns to its normal level, there's a brief hesitation or jerk, and then it runs normally as if nothing happened.
However, if I stop and then try to restart the engine after a while (about 30 minutes), it won't start either. It will only start again once it has completely cooled down.
"Yes, it sounds like when it turns off, it's as if someone is switching off the ignition, and inside the car, I can hear a few relays clicking."
I've read a lot of posts, but I mostly only come across information about diesel engines with this problem, or gasoline-powered Fabias with a different engine.
So far, I have done the following:
Throttle body removed and cleaned.
Spark plugs replaced.
Ignition coil replaced.
Air filter replaced (was due).
All relays were disassembled and checked for cold solder joints or contact defects.
Hall sensor for camshaft replaced.
Control unit replaced.
The switches on the clutch and brake pedals were tested, disassembled, and cleaned.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything after trying out all those things.
The error memory was also empty. Only after he was dead and I had tried to start the engine a few times did the error message "Crankshaft sensor G28 - no signal" appear.
Could the potentiometer in the throttle valve be causing this problem?
Maybe one of you has another idea?
Okay, and my details are still missing: 1.8L engine, 125 horsepower, engine code AGN, first registration date 10/98, manual transmission.
It might not be a diesel issue, but maybe someone here can still help me?
I'm so tired of taking the bus.
Best regards.
from Hamburg
